Research cultural refrences

For the races culture i will basing building the core aspects of their culture around Native Americans.
I chose the Native American  culture because it is a very much still alive culture that has always had a deep connection to the world around them.

I have been researching into the Native American culture and looking at aspect of there day to day lives. I have been reading up on how Native American lived to get a better understanding of the types of roles in a tribe and there daily routine. I believe it will be useful to have a good understanding of this information tom help create inspiration and reference points for the illustrations  i plan on drawing and give me an idea of key points of reference for my Journal entries. An example of this would be:
I intend to have reference to how this race will make their clothes. Using the information i have gathered i can make reference to how they use tanned leather top make there clothing along with the  decorations from other local wild life. I have also gathered an extensive description from my reference text to be able to draw a more accurate illustration of what the clothes would like and what the process of tanning that leather would look like.

In my opinion this type of research is useful because it allows me to gather key bit of information about a culture from published scientific journal and interpret the information into my body of work. I feel this will give the information and illustration a more of a base in reality even through the information being presented is pure fiction.
